Socrates wrote nothing, so we can only get at him through the way he is described and pictured by others. Are the images we have of him consistent? In this seminar we will study a range of texts and portraits of Socrates in a quest for understanding what Socrates himself was like, as a personality, a thinker and a world historical figure.
